City of South Haven, MN



City council meetings are held the first Tuesday of every month in the city hall at 6 pm. (Unless otherwise posted., can not meet on election day or on legal holidays.) 

City council has a Mayor (2 year term) and four council members (4 year terms, unless filled by appointment ; then term is until next regular election.

Elections are held every two years. The last odd year city election was in 2022.  The city then changed to even year elections.  In 2016 to save on costs, the city changed to mailed ballot elections handled through Wright County. For more information regarding elections laws go to

In the event of a vacancy leaving an open council seat, the position becomes an appointed position until it is filled by special election at the next regular city general election.
